I love coffee as much as the next coffee addict. It is how I start my day, I am pretty sure it is how most of us start our day, am I right?
While most of us rely on our coffee getting us through so tough days, a healthier, probably more effective option is an energizing smoothie.
Smoothies are great to make on those days you are constantly on the go and time is limited because they are quick to make, you simple throw a few ingredients into a blender and breakfast is ready.
I bought a cheap smoothie maker last year from Checkers – it was under R200 and comes with two bottles with lids and works like a bomb, so you don’t need a fancy, expensive device.
I will admit I am not a huge fan of green smoothies but I can appreciate that they are super healthy and can give you the energy boost you need.
The Ultimate Energy Smoothie: Bananas in smoothies are the bomb! I add them to pretty much everything, they add sweetness and thicken the smoothie up.
PB&J Smoothie: How freaking amazing does this sound? Berries, bananas and peanut butter. I have made a similar smoothie before but without the dates and spinach. Chia seeds are a little bombs of goodness, so adding them to your smoothies is always a good idea. I guarantee that this smoothie will power the toughest of days.
Power Breakfast Smoothie: This is a proper Monday morning smoothie. It is packed so much goodness, the spirulina and chia seeds will help get you through the longest of days.
Matcha Banana Latte Smoothie: I had to add at least one green smoothie and this is it. The matcha will give you your caffeine fix, this is also an immune boosting smoothie which is always a good idea for busy moms.
Chocolate and Blueberry Smoothie: Not list is complete without chocolate! Even though it has chocolate, this is a vegan recipe that contains Kasha, which is a great source of protein and perfect to add into any smoothie.
You can turn any of these smoothies into smoothie bowls and add some fruit, seeds and nuts. There aren’t really rules when it comes to smoothies. Often I just throw in whatever I have in the fridge and throw in some protein powder and off I go.
This post forms part of my 31 days to achieve work life balance as a work from home mom.
