I have been meaning to do one of these posts for months. I saw Sarah do one and have just not got around to it. No two days are ever the same which may be why it has taken me so long but also I could win prizes for procrastination sometimes.
So what does a day in my life look like?
4h00 – 5h30 Wake up. Getting up before everyone is a great time to get work done so if I need to get stuff done I am up early. The kids wake up any time from 5h00.
5h30 – 6h20 Everyone gets ready. It’s usually a pretty chaotic 50 minutes of bribing Emma, searching for shirts for Jack, changing nappies, finding bags, putting make up while someone urgently needs me.
6h20 – 6h30 I take Cameron to the bus.
6h30 – 13h30 is work time. Jane is here 3 days a week, so those days Baby R is looked after and on the other two days its work between keeping him happy. Fortunately he has two really good naps in the day so I manage to get enough done.
13h30 – 17h30 is when the fun really starts (NOT). This is when I start doing school pick ups and honestly I am so completely over it. I pick up and drop off Cameron and Kiara until 17h30 when Cam finishes swimming. I don’t actually fetch Jack and Emma much anymore so it is just between the older two. I will have 30/40 minutes at home in between all of that which is when I throw a whole lot of food on the stove or into the microwave and hope for the best.
17h45 – 19h00 is the second crazy hour of the day. It is dinner time, bath time, put baby to bed time. We do try have a calm 20 minutes before putting Jack and Emma to bed.
19h00 – 20h00 David reads to Jack and Emma and then I lie with Emma for anywhere from 15 minutes to 90 minutes. During this time we make tea, remake tea, she gets changed, she has a wee or 5, we have to pile all the books on the bed, put the baby doll to sleep, find 5 big beads, change blankets – eventually either I fall asleep or she does.
Most nights Emma puts me to sleep but if she doesn’t, then David and I catch up before we go to bed.
