There are 19 days until baby arrives! Less than 3 weeks.
In those 19 days the following still needs to happen…
- Pack hospital bags (I was going to do this last night but then ended up lying with Jack until 8, then couldn’t find my one pair of PJ’s – so repacked my cupboard instead)
- 3 (possibly 4) parties still to do.
- One definite cricket match, possibly another 3
- 2 galas
- One last gynae check up (tomorrow)
- Baby shower
- Finish up 2 articles
- One kiddy birthday party (as a guest)
- Coffee date with a friend
These are all normal, every day things that happen though (apart from the hospital bags) so they aren’t really cause for much stress or concern. The biggest thing though, that I crossed off today was finding someone to help transport the younger two kids.
It was not an easy task at all. All I needed as someone to fetch Jack and Kiara from school in the afternoon and bring them home. It is less than a 20km round trip IF you bring Jack home first and then go back to fetch Kiara, if not then it is less. Their pick takes me an hour.
I really didn’t think it would be much of an issue until I started getting quotes from businesses who specialise in kids transport. For 6 weeks, JUST to fetch them both would cost me around R4500!!! That seemed a little bit steep for me and was way out of our budget. Long story short I put an ad on Gumtree and got a good response but when I asked to see the girls, none of them replied. I hadn’t even mentioned what we wanted to pay, so it wasn’t as if they could have been put off by that – they simply just never got back to me.
This week was D-week to sort this little issue out because D leaves for Nigeria on Sunday and I really needed to have an emergency plan in place for the kids. I was trying really hard to accept that it will all work out but it was getting a little stressful.
Enter Holly! Holly mailed me over the weekend I think and immediately said she would meet with me! So we met this morning. She is perfect! She isn’t working at the moment – waiting to start studying in the UK in September, which means she is available to be on call should I need help. She is also willing to help me with any parties that get booked while I can’t get around which is an extra bonus, so now I don’t have to turn parties down. We will do a meet the teachers on Friday and then she will start on the 3 February.
I can not tell you how relieved I am to have crossed this off the list!
Apart from David’s trip next week, there is now nothing stopping baby from coming any time now – just saying.
