Easter baskets with yoghurt pots

I love being creative. It helps with my anxiety and helps to fill my cup up.It seems to help my kids as well. I now start our week with a morning of crafting, it makes the week easier. They are more willing to sit and focus if I give them the freedom to be creative.

March is Craft Month

We have partnered with three amazing bloggers to bring you some fun crafts to do with your kids using recycled items you have in your home. Rebecca, Marcia, Candice and I will be showing you during the month of March how you can incorporate crafts into your daily life.

When we were putting this challenge together something we all wanted to do was use recyclable items we had in our home like egg cartons, boxes etc. We recycle a lot in our home and since we started home schooling my collection of “rubbish” is growing. If you are watching my Instastories then you will see how we are making magic happen with boxes.

I avoided doing crafts with the kids because I assumed it would take ages, it would make a mess, it was expensive and it would just be too hard. The reality is, it is none of those things. Don’t believe me? Stick around, we will show you how you can do it with minimal mess, on a budget and without it taking the whole day.

We have each chosen a different item and each week we will transform that item into something fun. Rebecca chose yoghurt pots for this week and we had some fun with these little pots.

Easter is around the corner so a lot of my crafts this month will be focused on Easter. These little Easter baskets were so easy to make but they came out so nicely.

I used speckled eggs but they are not cheap so if you want to do this for your child’s class or for a few children then you can use mini marshmallows, smarties or for the healthy moms out there you can use raisins or even dried fruit.

Washi tape can get expensive but most Chinese shops have some more affordable options. You can also get pipe cleaners at most Chinese shops and they are a great product to have, you will always find a use for them.

Easter basket with yoghurt pots

What will you need:

1. Empty yoghurt pots.
2. Washi tape – any pattern
3. Speckled eggs
4. Pipe cleaners

What you need to do:

1. Wrap the washing tape around the yoghurt pots.
2. Poke a small hole in the rim of one side of the top of the pot and then a second on the opposite site.
3. Thread the pipe cleaner through the holes to make the handle.
4. Pour the speckled eggs in and VOILA – Easter basket.

I think these would also look very cute as table decor for your Easter celebrations. You don’t have to make them as an Easter basket, you could leave the pipe cleaner off and just have them as little pots.
