Our Veggie Garden

We used to have a veggie garden, then we got a dog and the dog ate all the veggies and then life happened and all we had was Pinterest dreams of a veggie garden.

David and I are trying to be adults now though and do stuff around the house, so we have started a veggie garden again. Actually more accurately my husband has started a veggie garden again and it is looking amazing!Vegetable Garden|HarassedMom

We have the space, it was just a matter of using it properly and making sure the dog couldn’t destroy it, which David has managed to do using pallets. While I was in PE with Cameron I got some pictures showing me the garden all dug up, I will admit to being slightly panicked but by the time we returned, there was a plan and now there is a little spot of happiness in our garden.Vegetable Garden|HarassedMom

He started with onions and carrots but now we have coriander, red cabbage, lavender, parsley, chilli, beetroot, garlic, chives, spinach, rosemary and basil. How cool is that?Vegetable Garden|HarassedMom

It is right outside my office so I look out at it every day and it makes me smile every time.!

We received this little #sendaseed pot with some soil and a seed, there was no doubt where it would go! Vegetable Garden|HarassedMom

David has some great plans to increase what we have in there and add some more vegetable but for now it is growing and the kids love helping to add items and water it every day.Vegetable Garden|HarassedMom

Do you have a veggie garden going?

PS: If you tweet #sendaseed Unilever will plant a seed in their drive to plant a million trees in South Africa!

All of these photos were taken by Cameron.

  1. First off, Cameron can have a career as a photog if he gets tired of swimming!

    I love the pallet idea.

We dont have a garden so Im toying with the idea of a vertical garden on my balcony and also big pots with veggies in them.

  2. The photos are stunning! Keep going Cam! We are for the first time trying a very tiny little veggie garden. We struggle with sun in our main garden so we started with a small bed in the sunny driveway. Our salad did so well and then that wind storm destroyed them. Our cauliflower is doing great and so the spinach. The beetroot and carrots however seem to be struggling.

  3. Awesome!! We also have a veggie garden. It got neglected when my 2nd one was born, so right now it’s in the beginning stage again… mostly seedlings and a few tomato plants. 😀
My absolute favorite is lavender, spinach and basil.
    Enjoy it!

  4. OMG, my husband and I have been wanting to try this. However, we fill we are challenged being in a townhome rental. We were thinking of starting with herbs, they are so expensive in the stores.
