Five For Friday – The Winds of Change Edition

It’s been a tough two months, lots I can’t talk about but I am sure some of you have read between the lines. Normality should return to normal on Monday and for that I am eternally grateful. As much I will miss the extra set of helping hands around the house, I have learnt this past month that I need structure and routine as much as I need air to breathe!

Like with everything in life, the tides turn, the wind changes and the skies clear. Nothing is constant. Thankfully.

  • I realised this week just how differently David and I deal with things. There is an episode of Modern Family where Hayley gets kicked out of college and Claire (the mom) freaks out but Phil (the dad) remains calm and at one point she says “I want to kill him”. I totally get that. I am expressive – I don’t keep stuff in, I shout, vent, rant – it is how I deal but it is not how my husband deals so I have had to learn to bombard my mom, Ansie and Julia with rants and vents. (I can’t do it to just one of them because it will be too much and I will probably end up friend and mom-less, so I mix it up between them). I suppose it is a good thing, imagine if we both ranted and shouted and went a little crazy? My husband just runs around the neighbourhood spelling out words instead of yelling!Five For Friday|HarassedMom
  • I am totally loving what I am doing. I am working with some amazing people and I love that I have the freedom to be creative and work with other creatives.
  • Our dishwasher is broken – we are heading into week 2. The part should be here today but they can only install it next week. My kids have to wash the dishes. Cameron has, on more than one occasion, expressed his displeasure and said he would be happy to eat off paper plates. (At some point I need to post about this child and his privilege)Five For Friday|HarassedMom
  • There were some xenophobic attacks about 6km from our home over the weekend. It was deeply disconcerting and as tough as life has been, I have never had to face a dark night fearing that someone may burn me alive. People make me sad. Also these attacks never made the news, not even our local news, this also makes me sad.
  • Anyway onto happier things! My brother was up yesterday so he took David and I out for lunch. It is always nice to see him and I really do wish we lived closer. Five For Friday|HarassedMom

Will write my 5 a bit later. If I understand what you say between the lines I am very happy that things are returning to the usual. And love the time with your brother – I really miss having siblings

I am so glad things are getting back to normal and I have to admire David’s running letters. 🙂

Soooo glad things are settling. And you can vent anytime!
Right now my throat is burning and my ears are itching. I’m going to medicate to the gills in a moment.
Lance and I kind of take turns with ranting and venting. He’s mostly the calm influence while I have anxiety on steroids. And yet, sometimes he does become that person and I automatically switch to calm mode. Other than that, we just like go to the nearest buffet and EAT our problems away. Which doesn’t help!

My husband is like Phil and David. I rave and rant but I’m learning to so it less and less because I over analyze tbings and wonder if my problems are real or made up – SIGH

Ha ha ha want to hear about Cam
    And his privileges
