Wait! You need to Know This Before you Shop for Shoes

Shoes do a lot for us. They protect our feet from dangerous objects lying around, support our feet by reducing the amount of shock felt by the legs when contact is made with the ground, enhance our performance, and help us go about our day with comfort and peace.

However, wearing the wrong pair of shoes can have serious consequences especially when done for a long time. They can complicate existing foot issues and leave you in pain throughout the day. There is nothing worse than counting down the minutes until you get to take your shoes off and feel your toes again. To avoid buying the wrong pair of shoes, I have gathered some tips that can help you choose comfortable shoes that make your day easier.

Get Shoes that Fit

While this may seem like something everyone should know, you will be surprised at the number of people that buy shoes that don’t fit. Your shoes should not be too small or too big and you shouldn’t get a pair of shoes hoping that they would eventually fit as you wear them- that doesn’t always work out.

Your shoes should fit you perfectly with enough room for your toes to move around and to encourage airflow. To get shoes that fit, it is important to get your feet measured at the AU Nike store before you begin shopping. It is also a good idea to shop in the afternoon or evening as your feet would be a bit swollen at that time.

Be Strict about Quality

Your shoes should give you value for your money and having a pair of good shoes will cut down costs and save you from some problems in the future.

Avoid shoes that are made with cheap materials like thin suede or cheap leather where you can. If you are shopping online, check for the materials used to make the shoes and be conscious when the list is not detailed enough.

Check of the upper layers of the shoes are stitched together or glued as glued shoes can be difficult to repair and manage.

If you are working with a budget, get your shoes from the Australian Nike store that has a wide variety of shoes at different prices. When you shop from a trusted brand, you can rest assured that the shoes will be worth the price.

Don’t be in a Hurry

This applies whether you are buying from a store or doing some online shopping. When shopping online, compare two or more outlets together before you settle on one. Check if they have similar shoes, the price range, and the reviews on the shoes.

When buying from a store, take your time to check the shoes for bulges or any features that can make you uncomfortable. Take a few pairs that interest you and try them on. Test it on a treadmill if you are shopping for athletic shoes or move around with it to get a better feel of the shoes. Take your insoles or socks if you have any to get a better fit for the shoes and determine their comfort level.

Consider the Environment

Consider the environment you live in or the place where you will be wearing the shoes when shopping. For muddy or wet environments, it is a good idea to buy shoes that are slip-resistant to prevent accidents from happening. If you are going to a construction site or a rough terrain, get yourself a pair of sturdy shoes with a good grip and enough padding to prevent injuries.

Where you are performing an athletic activity, choose shoes that match that activity. For instance, buy running shoes for running and cleated shoes when playing sports like football or basketball.

Check the Flexibility

Flexibility refers to how bendable the shoes are. In situations where you have to move fast or make some abrupt movements, you need shoes that move well with your body. To check the flexibility of the shoes, try bending the shoes and making them take a V form. If it can do that perfectly, then the shoes are flexible.

Do your Research

Where the shoes can be found online, it is always a good idea to find out all you can about them. If you are not sure of what you want, you can work hand-in-hand with the consultant attending to you to pick out the best shoes for you.

  3. I had shoe shopping as I have a wide foot, so it’s hard to find shoes that fit properly. I tend to get jel insoles, to help my feet cope with walking, which has been a godsent. There are some great tips in here though!

  4. I’ve bought cheap pairs in the past and regretted it. I think spending that little bit more ensure comfort and they last for years
