Last night was a crap evening in our household.
David and I were in a bad space, Kiara was missing her dad, Cameron was devastated because they will no longer be going to after care, Jack was his usual self which after 17h30 is not pretty, Lucy kept digging her hole (she is almost at the centre of the earth) – I am sure the hamster and bird where also experiencing some sort of stressful moment.
In my attempt to calm Kiara down I told her my mom was coming up for 2 whole weeks when I have my op AND that when they go to Cape Town in June both my mom and dad are going to fetch them. This made her so so happy. She declared her heart only a little broken (there is still the issue of missing her dad).
When we sat down for dinner and spoke about all the things we have to look forward to. Even though I did feel slightly hopeless last night, I am a mom and I can’t let the kids feel hopeless and there are always lessons to be learnt. So last night we did the whole “silver lining” lesson and afterwards we all felt so much better.
We have a few things to look forward to like
- My mom coming to visit.
- The water festival tomorrow.
- Seeing my brother, Nhin and Mae tomorrow at the water festival.
- The food at the water festival.
- No more afternoon traffic now that the kids are no longer going to after care.
- The Easter bunny comes on Sunday 🙂
- It is nearly Kiara’s birthday.
- It is nearly my birthday.
What do you have to look forward to?

Love the water festival idea… if I wasn’t doing a wedding in the morning, we would have done that too
Great ibyiu for finding the silver lining. I am so looking forward to the June holidays and the sea, and I am still hoping to find somewhere to go to for the next long weekend.
I love how you CHOSE to look for the silver lining 🙂
Hmmm, right now I’m looking forward to tidying up this study – I’ve been putting together my random acts of kindness for the month 🙂 and so it’s a gift and packaging mess! Ribbon, paper, punches, tags everywhere!
AH man…sorry that they are no longer going to aftercare. I know how much they (AND you) loved everything about it.
I am looking forward to getting back into running. I just haven’t been able to get back into it.
Right now,I’m about to watch Glee!
And then in about 2 hours we’ll get ready for tomorrow – school starts again!
