Orange Tahini Dressing

Do you make your salad dressings? I have been experimenting with a few different ingredients to make our own. The nice thing about a salad dressing is that you really can add whatever you want – like this orange tahini dressing.

We actually always have tahini in our fridge because we use it for our hummus but I haven’t really used it for much else, yet. Kezia from the Whole Foods Diary uses tahini for just about anything, including dressings. If you are looking for waste-free inspiration and delicious recipes, then check out her account.

What is tahini? Tahini is made up of sesame seeds that have been ground up to form a paste. So basically it is like sesame seed butter. It is pretty oily and before you use it you have to mix it up nicely. The flavour isn’t that strong at all, I did make some brownies with it the other day and you could definitely taste the sesame.

You could use freshly squeeze orange juice for this recipe for a more organic, low waste dressing.

Once you have made the dressing store it in a glass jar in your fridge until you need to use.

This dressing is delicious over salad or you can add it to your stir-fry for a little bit of character.
