Recipe Round Up – My 5 favourite bakes

Life has been busy lately, actually it has not been as busy as it has been a period of readjustment. I am not as home as much anymore, Kiara has had more dancing in prep for exams and concert and this week the babies started swimming so schedules have had to adjust!

Trying new recipes has taken a back seat and has been replaced with tried and trusted regulars which is why I haven’t been sharing recipes – in case you were wondering.

Today I am sharing a round up of my five favourite cakes and biscuits.

Butterscotch and Apple Upsidedown cake – this is a must try recipe! If you are entertaining then I would definitely make this one, your guests will be blown away. It isn’t really a quick recipe but worth the time and effort. You will thank me!

These Peanut Butter Cookies are delicious and quick and easy to make to full cookies jar for the upcoming holidays! Also might be nice to make for teacher gifts.

I made this Lemon Drizzle Cake for Jack’s party one year and it is a nice one to do if you are hosting a tea or need to supply a cake for school or Moms and Babes or just for a treat.

If you don’t know about these Condensed Milk Cookies then you clearly had a very sheltered life or you didn’t grow up in South Africa. These define moreish but the recipe makes a lot so if you bake them your jar will be full for weeks (unless you live with a large family).

There are days you want to bake but really don’t feel like a complicated recipe, this Vanilla Cake is perfect for those days. It is super quick and pretty flop proof! It is also a good one to use if you are making your kids birthday cakes!

What are some of your favourite baking recipes?

I must be the only one who doesn’t like those condensed milk biscuits. I made them once and they were fine but I prefer Se7en’s sugar cookies. I use that one all the time and even taught Nanny S to make them.

I’m off to look at your lemon drizzle cake – you had me at lemon ๐Ÿ™‚

PS how do you get those white blocks on your pics that you write in?

Marcia – I use Canva (canva.com) – they have lots of layouts or you can design your own. It makes it SOOOOO much easier.

The Lemon drizzle will definitely be my next recipe to try. Condensed milk cookies are the bestest. Have been baking those for ages and the kids love it to bits.

PS: I have been making homemade pizza ever since I read your last recipe roundup. It’s a definite winner. The husband even made it two nights ago and commented on how easy it was to make. My family and I thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to try your condensed milk cookies, tried making some a while back and I wasn’t impressed.

The butterscotch Apple upside down cake just sounds divine! I like apple in anything
