WIN with Moir’s AND Maizena

Gluten Free Sweetcorn Fritters | HarassedMom

What were some of the products you grew up with that you have carried on using in your home? For me it is Maizena. My mom has always used Maizena. When I moved into my own home, it was the one thing I have always had in my kitchen. It is a gluten free product so makes sense we have it but it is the best thing to use to thicken sauces with. I studied hotel management and we learnt how to make a roux with flour but every time I try to do it, I end up with a lumpy sauce. I never have this issue with maizena and I use it for stews and soups that need a little thickening up, just sauces.

If you have never used maizena before, all you do is mix a little bit of it in some water and add it to your meal and in seconds it is thick. It is that easy.

I have recently started baking with it and I know my mom also adds it now and then to her gluten free baking. But I also find we are using it more and more in our homeschool activities. We used it in our fizz bombs, to look for finger prints and make ooblek.

There are a few things you will always find in my kitchen – cheese, coffee, herbal teas and maizena.

I love working with the team behind Moirs and Maizena because both of these brands have always been in my home (and my mom’s home). I love getting new recipes from them because I know that I will be able to eat them and not just make them for the kids to enjoy.

Last week I received a beautiful box jam-packed with some Maizena and Moir’s goodies. I am SO excited that I get to share this awesome gift with you guys because the team have given me two boxes to giveaway to two lucky readers.

The box contains all the ingredients you need to make Crispy Corn, Spring Onion and Chilli Fritters PLUS a box of Moirs Mug cakes complete with a stunning tea cup and saucer and 4 Lindt Balls to add to add to your mug cakes for extra indulgence.

I have made both of the items in the box. The fritters are a great lunch time meal, perfect for kids who constantly seem hungry. They are also super quick to make, which is important to me. I hate spending hours preparing dishes.

The kids made the mug cakes and added in the Lindt balls and I think the box lasted 2 hours from the moment it was delivered. My kids are all about the chocolate life and adding the chocolate balls is chocolate on chocolate,so perfect for them.

Each hamper comes in a beautiful wooden box and consists of the following:

  • 1 tin sweetcorn
  • 1 bottle Maizena (500g)
  • Moir’s baking powder (100g)
  • Spring onions
  • Small chilli
  • Coriander
  • Sweet chilli sauce (750ml)
  • Oil
  • 1 box Moir’s Mug Cake
  • 1 cup and saucer
  • Lindt chocolates

    1. The item is A set of white plastic measuring spoons which used to belong in our family kitchen and I used it for measuring especially my Must have Ingredient for baking which is Moirs Baking Powder. I know continue to use this set of spoons in my own home now and someday it will be passed onto my daughter. This set of spoons have travelled with me through the years from moms kitchen to mine.
