Anniversary Weekend in Cullian
I have been wanting to get away for weeks now. We didn’t go away over December and it was great being at home, but we worked for the majority of the time so it doesn’t feel like we actually had a break. Then the year started and its been go go go. As much as I love working with David, it does get hard keeping those boundaries.
I have been looking for somewhere close for us to get away for weeks and stumbled upon Hyperli. It is like a Groupon type site and has some amazing deals for getaways and more. I found this great deal for a full spa day and a nights accommodation at the Cullinan Premier Hotel.
Eventually the stars aligned and we were able to book it. It worked out well because it was also our anniversary weekend.
I wanted to be away for 2 nights and the hotel was fully booked for Saturday night so I found the cutest little B&B, the Old Cabin. We stayed in their little wooden cabin and it was perfect. It had everything we needed, except there is no TV which wasn’t an issue for us but it you want to Netflix and chill, you will have to Netflix on your phone. I would definitely book here again for a couples weekend away.
I am not sure if it a result of COVID but Cullinan isn’t as vibey as I remember, the main street is pretty quiet and a few restaurants have closed, which is sad and can make finding dinner a challenge, especially since most of the places close early. We eventually had dinner at the golf course. The food was good and it is a pretty setting but it is pub food, so lots of fried food and rich sauces and not a whole lot of greens.
We started our spa treatments at the Cullinan on Sunday morning and it was such a relaxing day. We had two lovely therapists who gave us our treatments and by the end of the day we were so calm and relaxed. Our package did include lunch and breakfast. Both were delicious.
The hotel is the original building from 1905 which adds to the charm. The rooms are huge, they have creaky wooden floors and balconies that look out over the town. The bathrooms have been modernized but the furniture is beautiful period pieces. The staff were friendly and I would definitely book the hotel again.
While the hotel does have a restaurant we decided to have dinner at the Cullinan Diamond Lodge, which is over the road from the hotel. We had such a lovely, affordable meal with the friendliest waitress. We were the only ones in the restaurant which was equal parts nice and a little creepy. But if you are in Cullinan and are looking for a yummy dinner, this is probably your best bet.
It was just what we needed. The fact that there wasn’t much going meant we really go to have some real down time, which was very welcome.

I’ve never been to Cullinan, I should definitely plan a trip there. The place seems very relaxing and beautiful….

This sounds like a really well deserved break – spending time with family can be lovely, but never truly is a break. I’m glad you were able to relax – what a great way to spend your anniversary.

I totally get the need for a break, especially when work boundaries blur. Hyperli seems like a gem for finding great deals, and your spa day and stay at Cullinan Premier Hotel sound amazing.

I have never been to Cullinan nor have I heard of it, but it sounds like a great place to visit! I am glad you guys had fun and got to enjoy a nice spa day and relaxing trip! Older places like that allow us to appreciate the vintage charm

I have never been to or heard of Cullinan but everything looks fabulous and I would wnat to stay there myself! We are well overdue for a real vacation….one day 😉
