Introducing ROODT. Made by Nature

It is that time of the week where we introduce yet another local, sustainable, waste free product! This week we are heading to Vredendal, one of the many charming small towns in South Africa to learn more about ROODT.

Introducing ROODT

Brand Name: ROODT. Made by Nature

Do you have a retail store, an online store, or both?

ROODT. products are sold by myself via, Facebook or Whatsapp. It can be also be found at several brilliant small businesses run by some powerful woman. Our exciting new and convenient online shop will be up and running very soon.

Royal Highnies, Tiny Flove, The Kind Cart, Origami Eco-Living, Karma Lifestyle, Nicky Green, Pixieboo, and many more.

What products do you offer? At Roodt ROODT we offer an impressive collection of eco-kind home and personal care items. Each product is made with skin-loving oils and pure Tallow, a gift from the world’s botanical and agricultural treasure-trove.

What made you start this business?

It all started as a quest to find the purest form of natural chemical-free soap, personal care, and homecare items for daily use around my family. It all just made me in love with the art of soaping. Creating items in mind that work well with our cloth diapering journey was my main goal. And it all evolved into ROODt from there.

How do you choose the brands you work with?

I love to work with brands that share my passion for all products eco.

What does sustainability mean to you?

Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

At ROODT 80% of our products are manufactured with tallow compared to oils, which need to be substantially processed (grown in monocultures, harvested, pressed, filtered, bottled, and transported to you from faraway places), requiring energy inputs, our tallow is produced relatively locally and processed at ROODT. We also boast of glass, paper, and our 99% zero-waste product packaging.

What do you feel is the biggest misconception out there when it comes to sustainable living?

What tip/s would you give to someone just starting on their waste-free journey?

Join some supportive zero-waste Facebook pages, read some brilliant blogs, and just take it all in. Start small, ease yourself into the new lifestyle, and have fun with getting creative.

What has been the most challenging part of living a zero-waste life? Living in a very small town I don’t always have some of the amazing recourses that big cities have to offer.

What are 3 of your favorite products within your range?

Hands down my ever so lovely, multi-use one bar wonder Roodt Boerseep.

Roodt Organic facial buttery
