{WIN} A Baking Course

The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in its evocation of innocence and delight. M. F. K. Fisher

I love baking. I would bake every day, I find it incredibly calming. When lockdown started we actually did bake every day. David and I would bake bread and the kids baked cakes, cookies, tarts, and a whole lot more.

Baking is more about the technique than it is about the recipe. So there is always something to learn. While I have baked bread, I have never managed to get rolls right. I have tried a few times but each time I end up with hard little rocks!

Enter Grace Stevens.

Grace is a baker, who bakes the most amazing goodies. she definitely does not make hard little rocks! Check out her Instagram account for inspiration.

Grace has also developed some online baking and decorating classes. I signed up for the Making Enriched Yeast Dough – Hot Crossed Buns. I know it is not Easter but I wanted to learn how to make enriched yeast dough, so figured I would start there.

The course includes a video where Grace shows you exactly what to do every step of the way and gives you a recipe to try out what you have learned. I have a pretty short attention span and sometimes baking videos get too technical and long and I struggle to keep focused but this video was just the right lenght of time and didnt get too technical but explained everything so perfectly.

The video is simple and easy to follow and when I made the buns they came out perfectly. Kiara, who is not a huge baked goods fan, absolutely loved them and asked me to please make them again.

Grace Stevens has given me a voucher to the value of R250 to use on one of her courses to give away to one lucky reader.

These courses are perfect to do now during lockdown!

If you are a budding baker and want to enter, leave a comment telling me what you would love to learn to bake.

You can view all of the online baking courses here.

Don’t forget to follow both Grace and I on Instagram.

Competition closes on the 14 July!

I’d also sign up for the “Making Enriched Yeast Dough – Hot Crossed Buns” course. I tried making hot cross buns earlier on during Lockdown, but battled with kneading very sticky dough. I’d love to learn to do it right!

I’d love to do the Piped Buttercream courses – my cake decorating could definitely do with some improvement!
