Working out at home takes a lot of motivation but there are so many rewards.

Working Out At Home

I have written a post that touches on this topic as well. The focus of this post is more, why you need to make the time to work out, especially if you work from home and how you can fit it in. I found that it is so easy to get caught up in working from home, dealing with kids that skipping gym was becoming more and more common. I actually find fitting in working out at home easier to do, I think because it is less disruptive to my daily routine.  Tips to work out at home | Harassedmom

Working out regularly is not about losing weight, there is so many more benefits to getting your heart rate up regularly.

Exercise makes you happy. Ok, so I will admit I am still skeptical about this but we all know we feel after a good workout, often the tougher it is the better we feel.

Its good for your muscles and bones. As we get older we start to lose muscle mass. David mentioned some pretty scary statistics to me the other day about this. The short of it is, we lose muscle mass as we get older and this leads to injuries and disabilities.

I know it may not feel like it after a tough workout, but exercise does increase your energy levels.

If you are, like me, and suffer from anxiety, getting active can help manage this. You might not want to work out when you are feeling anxious but it is the best time to work out. I know it does help me.Tips to work out at home | Harassedmom

I think most of us know that we should work out but it is often the first thing we skip when life gets crazy, when actually it should be the last thing. It is possible to fit it in at least 4 times a week. (If you haven’t exercised in a while, start slow with 3 times a week).

Work it into your routine. I workout when David takes the kids to school. It takes him about 35 minutes to drop kids 1-3 which is enough time to get a workout in. It is part of my daily routine now, I have no excuses not to do it. There is time, every day.  David is a runner, he runs from 5h00 – 6h00 so if running is your thing and you have someone to run with then you can get it done before your day starts.

Include your kids. Emma is still at home when I work out. She is like my little cheerleader and sometimes she even does the workouts with me. It is super cute. Instead of trying to find kid-free time to work out, get the kids involved.

Find a workout you enjoy. I have used a few workouts from YouTube but have found Body Fit By Amy and I LOVE her workouts. She is also a mom and while her workouts are tough, they are doable and I don’t feel like I am trying to keep up with her. You don’t have to do a workout from YouTube, you can do pretty much anything you want, just find something you enjoy.

Do you work out at home? What do you do?

  1. Thank you for sharing your tips. As a working mum, and daily household routine I found really difficult to do some workouts. Till my hubby and I decided to leave all the routine and enjoy 2 days a week in a gym. So, now, for 2 years, on a weekly basis my hubby stay with kids and me twice a week go to gym, another 2 days, he goes. It helped me a lot to be more productive and manage my time wisely
