This was such a fun activity but I will admit upfront, it was more fun for me than the kids. Jack did paint his Joy Canvas but Emma wasn’t keen, so I decorated the second one.
I made little lights using dots of paint but if you have little ones who can’t paint properly yet, use their fingerprints as the baubles. We did this last year for my parent’s Christmas gift and it worked so well.
Another option is to let the kids paint the canvas as they want to and then write the letters over that.
I haven’t added too many instructions because there is so much you can do to decorate these canvases. We used the A5 sized canvases from the Crazy Store and they were the perfect size for us to use to decorate with. There are bigger canvases, so you can find the right size for the space you want to decorate.
- 3 A5 Canvases
- Paint any colours
- Outline one letter of the word JOY onto each canvas.
- Get your kids to paint and decorate each canvas.
- Get your kids to press their fingerprints all over the canvas and then connect them to make them look like lights and baubles.
You can prop these up on a mantle, window sill or shelf. Or you can hang them on the wall if you have space.
Disclaimer: I was sent these items in exchange for a blog post. The crafts are my own.
