Kiara asked me this morning if it really is the 10 September when she heard it on the radio. It seems once we pass July, the year just careens downhill!

There is lots going on in our house this week!

Kiara and Jack have their school concert. Kiara’s is on Friday night and Jack’s is on Saturday morning. I really take my hat off to the teachers trying to co-ordinate all those kids, especially the little ones. The school only has a concert every 2 years, so it is a big deal and they spend a lot of time on it.

Cameron has school swimming trials this weekend (exactly same times as the concerts – thanks for that karma). It was this gala last year that prompted him to make the decision to start swimming full time so this is a big big gala for him. I must just tell you guys that I don’t think I have ever met anyone who has such single-minded determination as this child. He made the decision last year that he was going to swim trials and he has spent the year working unbelievably hard to get here. Really I look at the hard work and dedication this child has towards his swimming and I am in awe. I can’t be at the gala but he has a wonderful coach who will take him (and a few others) and perhaps it is better I am not there bringing my stress and anxiety to the table!

David was in Nigeria last week and is off to Kenya next week – I have no desire to go to Nigeria but I am a little envious of the Kenyan trip, it is one country I would love to go to. Some of you may remember my very whiney posts a few years ago when David started travelling? There was a particular one about poo that comes to mind. I hated it. Every time he went away I would throw the biggest tantrums ever (no wonder I have kids who can throw tantrums with the best of them). Anyway four years on and I am pretty much over myself. The kids and I manage just fine now, we have our routine, I call in help when and if I need it and we just get on with it. I still don’t like it but it is what it is and at some point in life you have to put your big girl panties on and just deal with life!

Reminder to please pledge your Santa Shoeboxes if you haven’t already!

Also the Mamahood ladies have launched a new website, it is really a great resource – check it out, I know Lizanne and Candice put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the creation of the site.

I am in a bit of a weigh-less slump at the moment! I am 0.4g away from my goal but I pick up 0.2 and then lose 0.2 – its a pain. I know it is only 0.4kg but I really want to get to my goal! So this week I am trying really hard not to devour the tub of lactose-free ice-cream I bought (why I actually bought it in the first place I will never know).

I am loving my new phone especially being able to take photos – I am even on day 10 of Karin’s #embracehappy photo challenge! On this note – who is on snapchat? I am playing around with it, still not sure what the point is, I suspect I may be too old for it?

I have started a bit of Christmas shopping – Emma has one gift and Jack has one gift. Its a start and I always feel so accomplished when I get stuff like this done early! Have you started any Christmas shopping?

  1. Ha! Christmas shopping. You’re kidding, right? I’ve been known to fly about the shops on Christmas Eve to get it done…
Although I must admit that on the rare occasions when I did my shopping early, life was so much more pleasant! 😛
