We continued with our celebration theme for 2023 and celebrated a wedding and 2 birthdays in April.

April - A Round Up

I know April isn’t officially over but we don’t have much planned for the weekend so I am doing the roundup now!

My word of the year is Flourish but the theme of the year so far has been Celebrations! January we celebrated David’s 40th birthday with 3 parties. February was Emma’s party and 4 of her friends! March we recovered, only to start celebrating again in April for my birthday and Kiara’s.

I haven’t had a party for my birthday since my 40th and even that celebration was pretty low key. So I decided this year we were going to celebrate and celebrate we did with a small opskop at Salsa Mexican. It was probably one of the best parties I have ever had. The people who came to celebrate with us were a pretty diverse group of work colleagues, home school friends, neighbours and old friends. But they are a group of people who have added such positivity to my life. It is very much a “come as you are” group of people who have accepted me and my family just as we are.

One of my friend gave me a few plants for my birthday and it was just what my veggie garden needed. I have pulled out a lot of veggies to get ready for the winter and even though it looks bare there is still a lot growing.

We finally managed to harvest an amazing cauliflower. It was only one of the 6 I planted that survived!

I have planted some new winter veggies and a few plants to add some colour and more food for the bees! It is bringing me so much joy.

David’s parents got remarried in April – more celebrating. David and I were the wedding planners which was stressful but also lots of fun.

Probably the highlight of the month (and maybe even the year) was that we finally had our solar installed. We applied at the end of January but there was a bit of a back log but once they made contact it was a pretty painless process.

So now are are not reliant on Eskom anymore and don’t have to constantly check the EskomSePush app. One stp closer to being off the grid!

How was your April?
