Easter Cards Using Bottle Caps

The kids and I are having such fun with our up-cycling craft challenge. These cute little Easter cards came out so well and are perfect for grandparents or teachers or even for your child to leave for the Easter bunny. This activity was super easy and you actually don’t have to buy anything to make it.

If you haven’t done it already, start a recycling station in your home where you can start collecting things like bottle tops, yoghurt pots, egg cartons and boxes. Holidays are around the corner and if you need ideas to keep your kids busy, these items will keep them busy for ages. Jack has been working on a car made from a banana box for weeks now. Every day he adds something new to it.

If you head over to my Instagram feed you will see what we did with just bottle tops and eyes. I left the eyes and bottle tops on the table and the kids came and went, each time creating something new.

What do you need.

2 different size bottle caps – any size will do, you can go bigger than this or smaller, just try aim for 2 different sizes.

Eyes – if you don’t have these googly ones, draw them on.

Cardboard -the colour really doesn’t matter.

A mini pompom or a piece of cotton wool.

Glue – liquid glue works best for this craft.

What to do

1. Place the two bottle caps in the shape you want them. Glue them down and wait for them to dry.
2. Stick on the eyes.
3. For the chick I cut out a tiny triangle for her beak and drew on her legs. We cut out grass but you can also get your child to draw it.
4. We cut out the ears for the bunny and drew on his smile.
5. Write on the message or get your child to write it on if they are comfortable writing.

The cutting out for this craft can be a little tricky for little ones because it is small pieces but let them try if they want to.

This is a great craft to help with different shapes. There are different shapes in each little card and you can ask them to count how many circles are in the image and what colour they are etc.

This craft is a part of our Craft Challenge and this week the ladies have really created some amazing masterpieces. I was going to do the wind chimes that Marcia made and I still may. Candice and Lexi made the sweetest little fridge magnets (this is another great learning craft). Rebecca and her boys created two stunning pieces of art.
