If you have been reading HarassedMom for a while you will know I am ALL about convenience. If it makes life simpler and easier, I am all for it. Creating a smart home is an easy way to make life a whole lot more convenient.
What is a Smart Home?
At its core, though, a “smart home” is a place equipped with devices that automate tasks and/or allow remote access. These can be built into a building or added later, and controlled by various means, including apps, remotes, switches, voice commands, or artificial intelligence. Source.
Basically a smart home allows you to connect appliances and devices to an app that can be controlled remotely. You can connect pretty much anything – appliances, blinds, light switches, sound systems and more.
Depending on how complex your system is, it makes life much easier because you can automate things like switching lights on/off, opening blinds, turning appliances on when you need them to (like the Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 2).
We are slowly adding Mi Africa products to our home, if I am honest I would LOVE to automate a lot more. Imagine lying in bed and using a voice command to open the curtains and pressing a button to switch on the coffee maker!
What's still on my wish list?
There are a few things I would still like to add to your list of smart items – these are items we do currently use so switching them to smart devices makes sense.
Mi Smart Air Fryer 3.5L – I like the idea that you can schedule meals in this air fryer. This will definitely make my life easier.
Mi Smart Kettle Pro – this nifty little kettle has the capability of keeping water warm after it has been boiled.
Mi Smart Speaker – My kids love music and we often play music through the TV, having a smart speaker like this will make it easier for them to play their music.
I am still holding out hope for a robot that can cook and clean on command but for now these devices will do.

I haven’t tried any Xiaomi items at home, but I use Xiaomi phones. The vacuum is on my wishlist and also the air purifier.

Ohh I want the kettle that keeps your water warm. That’s a handy invention.
I really need the smart kettle it would make life so much easier, so many times I have boiled the kettle and got caught up with something else and had to re boil it again

We have quite a few smart home items in our house, although none from this brand. We have a bunch of amazon echos that we can use for voice control for our roomba vacuum, our automated lights, our alarm system, etc. The next thing we want to get is a smart thermostat so we can control it when we aren’t home.
My forever home will be a smart home. I will work hard t get it.
We’ve got some smart things around our home, but there’s still loads more I’d love to do. We can schedule our washing machine but I need to be able to work out how to use it x
