Series you HAVE to watch on Mother’s Day

It is almost Mother’s Day. The one day of the year that Mother’s the world over get to lie in bed all day, get served breakfast in bed and ring a bell to have all their needs met for the day! Right? Probably not, but for those of you who do have free reign over the TV for the day or maybe you have a tablet to watch on, these are the series I absolutely loved on Netflix.

Orphan Black – this show will eat you alive! It is so intense but absolutely worth it. It is hard to explain what the show is about without giving too much away. It says that it is a science fiction story but it isn’t one of those crazy sci-fi series, it will start making you question if cloning is possible. Once you start with this series you won’t be able to stop. Orphan Black Netflix | HarassedMom

Grace and Frankie –  I started watching this and wasn’t sure what to expect but it is hysterical. These two ladies will have you rolling on the floor laughing. Frankie is such an absolute hippie and Grace is the complete opposite which makes for some unbelievably funny moments. Each episode is only 30 minutes, so it’s an easy to watch. It is a comedy but some of the sex talk is quite explicit so not really kid appropriate.

Love – I have absolutely nothing in common with this couple but I was so deeply, emotionally invested in this show that I cried real tears when it ended. It is a love story but not a wishy washy type love story, their dysfunction is so relatable and so real. it is a comedy and there are some funny funny moments, most of them are so awkward which makes them funny.

The Let Down – You must have seen this mentioned on Social Media by now. This show is probably the most realistic depiction of motherhood I have seen on a TV show. The main character is SO awkward in her motherhood which is exactly how I felt as a new mother. There is a sleep training scene that honestly could have been David and I. There is only one season so far, so it’s a “quickish” watch.Let Down Netflix | HarassedMom

Peaky Blinders – When I started watching this I wasn’t convinced but I do find British shows have a lot more substance than US shows so I carried on watching and I was not sorry. It is a period series that follows a gang in England. It does get a little violent at times, but you can just skip those bits.Peaky Blinders Netflix | HarassedMom

Please Like Me – This series won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but Ansie and I absolutely loved it. It is worth adding to your list if you like comedy. Josh is such a special character, you just want to hug him and make him some tea.

These are just a few of the many many series that I can recommend on Netflix but they should keep you busy if you haven’t watched them already 🙂 If you are into action and super heroes, then you need to watch the various Marvel series – Jessica Jones, the Punisher etc. The British series are all good, yes all of them :-p

Have you watched any of these? What are some of your favourites?

  1. I’m definitely going to look these up on Netflix. I’ve also been loving When Calls The Heart – such a lovely show, set in a small coal town. Thanks for sharing! Megan xx
