One of the reasons I love Christmas so much is the decorating. You can start decorating at the beginning of December if you want and it adds to the excitement and magic of the festive season. We have our big Christmas feast on the 24 December and everyone gets involved in setting the table. Each year it looks a little different – sometimes we have a theme but more often than not we use what we have to decorate.
Chances are if you look around your home you will find an abundance of goodies you can use to decorate your Christmas table with.
These area a few ideas that I found that are inspiring me this year. I am still not sure what exactly we are going to be doing but whatever it is we will be using things we already have.
Glass jars and candles: There is something so simple and so beautiful about glass jars – add some candles and you don’t need much else. If you are hosting an evening meal then this is perfect. The pop of red and green in these jars adds the festive season vibe.
DIY macramé table runner: I have just started getting into macramé which is why this idea appeals to me so much. I love the idea of making the table runner and look how pretty it is. You can leave the runner on the table and add different little elements to create fun, festive looks.
More glass: These glass jars with the greenery added in would look so stunning on a table with a rustic brown table runner. You can use them as decor around your home once you are done using them on the table. The nice thing about using this as a table centre is that you can easily add all the food onto the table and it won’t feel crowded.
Upcycle a Christmas tree and decorations: A few years ago our Christmas tree broke. I had no idea what to do with it so we had to throw it out. Then I saw this idea and am sorry I didn’t keep it. Upcycling your tree is not only a great way to extend its life span but it can also create a fun centre piece. I have a lot of baubles that have broken on the top and now can’t hang on the tree, so I use them on the table, in jars or anywhere else I need to add a little colour.
More simplicity. This idea uses 4 items but is so pretty – candles, greenery, baubles and glass jars – 4 things we all probably have in our homes right now. I would love to do this for an outside table, I think it would look so lovely outside.
Paper is pretty: I think this is my favourite idea of all them. It is really great if you have kids but you can make a few changes and use it for the grown ups too. The best thing about this idea is that you don’t have to worry about spoiling table cloths and it will help to keep the kids busy.

These are wonderful! I have a few mason jars in my boxes that are still unused – to be honest, I don’t know what to do with them yet as I’ve hoarded them in a thrift shop. This gives me so many ideas! I might also use neon colors this year. Thank you for the inspiration!

I have so many glass jars. Seriously, an entire cabinet-full. I love the ideas using those and my husband would appreciate me finding use for some of them!

I love how easy these look but they make such a statement! Mason jars are probably my favorite way to add a lot of character to a table. Love these so much.

Totally adore the greenery in the bottles! That’s a fresh decor no matter which season. The checklist table cloth is pretty clever, too.
very cute! I liked your ideas and since I never rock at setting the table so your tips are ost welcome
I have never decorated my tables but always wanted to. We always live in small places that wouldn’t allow room for a table. Once I have a house where I can have a table up I will be decorating it. I love the Burlap, with greenery, candle jars, and ornaments.
So many inspirational ideas here in your post. Helps me planning our table decor for Christmas a lot better and easier as well. I love using candles to create the right mood

These are great ideas! I have so many extra little ornaments and decos I can use for something like a table runner. And I have plenty of access to greens. I’ll have to try out some of these.
I love all these ideas and I am gonna surely try few of them
I love the idea of a paper kid’s table – way to keep them busy and entertained on their own!
These table settings are beautiful. I will send them to my mom as she might have guests over for Christmas!

Not going to lie, I love decorating for Christmas but in more of a childish way rather than all fancy and formal. Though my wife likes to blend it so perhaps we can compromise by testing out the Glass jars and candles in the table cause I do love how the candles mixed with the red filled jars looked in your table setting pic.
In more reality, I would set up my table like the paper “kids” table you had with the fun games and interesting art for them to play with…Christmas brings out the kid in me too!
